SARAWAKIANS URGED TO FLY JALUR GEMILANG - S'WAK JAPEN
KUCHING, July 30 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Department of Information (JAPEN) has called on Sarawakians to foster the spirit of patriotism through the 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) campaign by flying the national flag in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 (HKHM 2026) celebrations.
State JAPEN deputy director Sri Kestury Mohammed Zamhari said the initiative aims to instil pride and love for the nation while strengthening the spirit of unity among Sarawak’s multiracial communities.
She said patriotism should not only be celebrated during the National Month but should also be embraced and practised in daily life.
“Sarawak JAPEN seeks to instil a sense of pride, love for the nation and the spirit of unity among the people so that patriotism is not merely celebrated, but truly embraced,” she said in a statement posted on Sarawak JAPEN's official Facebook page today.
Sri Kestury said the 1R1JG campaign, along with the display of the Jalur Gemilang at government premises, is among the department’s main initiatives to enliven this year’s HKHM 2026 celebrations, while setting an example for the private sector, communities and the public to also fly the national flag.
She said as a show of support for the campaign, Sarawak JAPEN installed the Jalur Gemilang around its headquarters here on July 20, reflecting the department’s commitment to promoting the message of patriotism among the people.
