SARAWAK POLLS: GPS CANDIDATES TO BE ANNOUNCED AFTER PRESENTATION OF APPOINTMENT LETTERS - ABDUL KARIM
KUCHING, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- The list of candidates who will represent Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the 13th Sarawak state election is expected to be announced during the presentation of appointment letters, ahead of the nomination day on Nov 28.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the final decision regarding the selection of candidates rests with GPS chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He noted that the majority of candidates for the seats to be contested by PBB have already been identified, though some seats may see the introduction of new faces.
“The official list of PBB candidates is typically only revealed on the day the appointment letters are presented, and all candidates representing GPS will receive their letters before nomination day,” he said at a press conference here today.
GPS comprises four component parties: PBB, the Sarawak United Peoples' Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), and the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).
The Election Commission has set Dec 12 as the polling day for the Sarawak state election, with nomination day scheduled for Nov 28 and early voting for Dec 8.
