KUCHING, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Media organisations are encouraged to take the initiative to distribute Jalur Gemilang to the public as part of efforts to foster the spirit of independence and support the One House One Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) campaign.

Sarawak Information Department (JAPEN) director Sabri Said said that beyond producing news and content promoting patriotism, media organisations could play a more active role on the ground in strengthening national identity.

“This is one way to encourage the public to be more aware of the importance of flying the Jalur Gemilang. It adds greater meaning and value to the 1R1JG campaign.

“Well-known media organisations such as Bernama, Suara Sarawak and TVS, for example, can go out into the community and distribute Malaysian flags to the public according to their respective capabilities,” he said during the Singgah Media programme held in conjunction with the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations at the Sarawak Bernama office today.

Sabri said greater media participation would help spread the message of patriotism more widely across the community.

Earlier, the Sarawak JAPEN delegation led by Sabri also visited the offices of TV Alhijrah, Astro Awani Borneo, Suara Sarawak and Sarawak Tribune to distribute Jalur Gemilang kits as part of a strategic collaboration with media organisations to support the 1R1JG campaign.

The campaign was launched on July 19. Since then, the Sarawak JAPEN has stepped up activities through its 33 district offices across the state while also using social media platforms to broaden its reach.
