NUR AZHAR TAKES OATH AS SARAWAK STATE ASSEMBLY SECRETARY

KUCHING, March 28 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Senior State Counsel Nur Azhar Bujang was today sworn in as the Secretary of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.

The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, in a statement, said he took his oath before Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar.

Nur Azhar, 39, replaced Pele Peter Tinggom, who was sworn in as a senator on March 5.

He began his career in the private sector in Kuala Lumpur before returning to Sarawak to join the state civil service as a legal officer in the Sarawak State Attorney-General's Chambers.

According to the statement, Nur Azhar obtained a Bachelor of Legal Studies in 2009 and a Bachelor of Laws in 2010 from Universiti Teknologi Mara.

“The Kuching-born Nur Azhar then furthered his studies with a Master's in Intellectual Property Law & the Digital Economy from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.

“He was part of the legal team representing Sarawak in high-profile cases, including the case between Petronas and the Sarawak state government,” the statement said.
