KUCHING, March 20 (Bernama) -- A total of 200 families are expected to move into the second phase of the Darul Hana development project by 2026, said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said the Darul Hana second phase construction is progressing rapidly, in line with the Sungai Bedaun housing project which is also part of the Darul Hana development initiative.

"We (Sarawak government) will also identify another area for developing Darul Hana, near the existing village," he said after attending the Darul Hana 2024 iftar ceremony here tonight.

At the ceremony, Abang Johari witnessed the presentation of 2023 business zakat totalling RM1,910,187.26 from Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) acting general manager Kusyairi Bostani to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) deputy general manager Bolhassan Iskandar Taibi.

Earlier, Abang Johari handed over Hari Raya contributions of RM150 each to 130 recipients from the asnaf group and orphans from 13 villages in the Darul Hana project area.

The Darul Hana iftar is an annual event organised by LCDA as part of its corporate social responsibility.
