MIRI, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Co-opbank Pertama (CBP) will open four more branches in the first quarter of 2024, located in Matang Jaya, Kuching, Sarawak; Sandakan and Papar in Sabah; and Jerteh in Terengganu.

Chairman Datuk Baharom Embi said this is part of its expansion plan to have at least 36 branches nationwide by 2026.

“The opening of these branches is to meet local community needs in line with CBP’s Strategic Plan 2022-2026 launched on May 31, 2022, to further expand its business,” he said in a statement here today in conjunction with the opening of the cooperative bank’s Miri branch yesterday, the second in Sarawak after Kuching, and the 31st nationwide.

Baharom expressed hope that with the opening of the branches, Sabah and Sarawak residents would fully support CBP’s products and services while members and customers are able to conduct business more easily.

CBP, established on June 7, 1950, was recognised as a bank by the Malaysian Cooperative Societies Commission and Bank Negara in September 2014.

It offers a variety of products ranging from individual, cooperative and corporate financing to Ar-Rahnu (Islamic pawnbroking), deposits, and takaful and wills.

Malaysian Cooperative Societies Commission chief executive officer Rusli Jaafar was present at the Miri branch opening.
