KUCHING, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- The Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) is a transformative force shaping the future of Sarawak's industry landscape, said state Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

He said it was imperative for Sarawak to embrace innovation and adapt its industry strategy to harness the potential of this era.

“IR 4.0 offers us a remarkable opportunity to streamline operations, enhance productivity and create more sustainable and efficient industries.

“Automation data analytics, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things are no longer futuristic concepts but practical tools that can drive growth and competitiveness,” he said when speaking at the opening ceremony of the Synergistic Networking Session: Industry-Institution Engagement 2023 here today.

Roland said it was important to upskill and reskill the workforce as they embraced the promise of IR 4.0.

“Investing in education and training programmes is fundamental to ensuring that your people are equipped to thrive in this technologically advanced landscape.

“Collaboration between industries, academia and government bodies will be key to fostering an ecosystem that nurtures innovation and knowledge transfer,” he added.

He said that the industry-institution engagement session would provide fresh insights to all participants and the discussions would illuminate the path towards innovation and collaboration.

A total of 120 participants from various agencies and the private sector participated in the networking session, jointly organised by the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, and Sarawak Skills.
