SDEC INKS MOUS WITH YAYASAN PENERAJU, TIKTOK TO HELP SARAWAK'S SMALL BUSINESSES
KUCHING, June 24 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) is set to work with Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju) and TikTok Pte Ltd (TikTok) to boost the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises.
SDEC has inked memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with both organisations at the launch of Sarawak Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Week 2023 in Miri on Friday, said a statement issued jointly by SDEC and Yayasan Peneraju tonight.
The MoU between SDEC and Yayasan Peneraju, which is under the purview of the Economy Ministry and focused on developing Bumiputera talent, aims to create a working relationship for the implementation of both parties’ programmes.
The statement said that the two organisations intend to expand the digital skills of the local community and develop digitally savvy entrepreneurs and Industry 4.0-ready businesses.
Meanwhile, SDEC and TikTok aim to explore the potential opportunities that the “shoppertainment” platform could offer to Sarawakian sellers under the Sarawak Digital Mall initiative.
“This initiative provides training by TikTok Shop (MY) and TikTok for Business teams, discount vouchers, sponsored ads credits, a dedicated microsite and many more activities,” the statement said.
The signing of the MoUs was witnessed by Sarawak Deputy Premier and International Trade, Industry and Investment Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister K. Saraswathy.
Meanwhile, the statement said SDEC will organise the Sarawak Digital Mall – TikTok Shop Bootcamp in Kuching (on July 15-16), Miri (July 17-18), and Sibu (July 20-21).
