SPISC: S'WAK SILAT EXPONENTS EXCEL TO ADVANCE TO SEMIS

KUCHING, March 2 (Bernama) — The Sarawak Premier International Silat Championship (SPISC) which entered its third day saw the host’s silat exponents exhibiting their prowesses when three of the state’s athletes booked their semi-final slots at the morning session.

In a statement, Rumpun Silat Sarawak said that three were Azizy Arby who contested in the Solo Kreatif Putra senior category, Zureen Zulyka Zaidel (Tunggal Baku Putri senior category) and Nur Inatha Khairuniyah Wira (Solo Kreatif Putri category).

It said Azizy defeated his teammate, Mohammad Shamiezal Shapian in the quarterfinals by securing 9.840 points.

Zureen, meanwhile, defeated her opponent Hananzohira Harif from the Armed Forces (ATM) after collecting 9.9 points against 9.39 points while Nur Inatha Kharuniyah, won against Nur Sofea Nadillah also from the Armed Forces.

According to the statement, other athletes who advanced to the next stage are silat exponents from Johor, namely Muhammad Khairul Shaddad Ardi for the Tunggal Baku Putra senior category, brothers Muhammad Danial Azray Noorazizan and Muhammad Danial Azroy Noorazizan (Ganda Putra senior) and Nur Syafiqah Hamzah (Tunggal Baku Putri senior). 

The championship, which is being held at Stadium Perpaduan Negeri here, offers cash prizes totalling US$20,000 (RM87,510) and a championship belt for the overall champion.
