KUCHING, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- The Public Services Commission (PSC) has opened three interview centres in Sarawak, namely in Sibu, Miri and here as part of 17 such centres nationwide.

Its chairman, Tan Sri Zainal Rahim Seman said this is one of the PSC’s efforts to upgrade facilities to make it more convenient for those who want to apply to join the public sector.

"Apart from this, among PSC's upgrades are implementing online interviews for those in rural and interior areas as they may face problems with regard to transportation, so interviews and tests can be conducted at home," he said.

Speaking to reporters after officiating the Kuching Interview Centre at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) today, Zainal Rahim said PSC practices open principles in recruiting candidates for the public services regardless of the candidate's state of origin to ensure that only the best candidates will be appointed.

According to him, PSC has representatives from Sarawak and Sabah to manage the interview process in both states as these representatives will be more knowledgeable about the ins and outs as well as affairs of their respective states.

"I am confident that through a more open method, more people from Sarawak and Sabah will be interested in serving in the public sector," he added.

Zainal Rahim added that he will also pay a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today to share the experience of the federal PSC in managing human resources governance as well as getting views to further empower the public service sector.
