16,505 PERANTISISWA TABLETS DISTRIBUTED IN SARAWAK

SELANGAU (Sarawak), Nov 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 22,265 Keluarga Malaysia PerantiSiswa applications have been received in Sarawak and 16,505, or 70 per cent, of the tablets have been distributed to eligible students.

“The distribution schedule has been arranged by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOM) and the remaining eligible applicants will get theirs soon,” according to a press release on the Keluarga Malaysia PerantiSiswa tablet distribution by Prime Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob here.

A total of 25 students received their tablets from the Prime Minister at a session held in conjunction with the opening of the Selangau section of the Pan Borneo Highway project here today.

About 400 students later received their tablets during a meeting with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg together with the recipients of the Sarawak state government scholarships at Universiti Teknologi Sarawak in Sibu.

Overall, the K-KOM has received 470,000 applications and nearly 350,000 have been approved.

Over 220,000, or 60 per cent, of the tablets have been distributed nationwide in about two months.
