KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- The people of Sarawak, especially students, will have the opportunity to learn about galaxies and outer space more closely in the mobile planetarium to be made available during the Sarawak chapter of the Keluarga Malaysia Aspirations (AKM) Tour this weekend.

Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the mobile planetarium would be the first to be made available at the AKM Tour, courtesy of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

“It has not been made available at any of the previous AKM tours. So, this will the best opportunity for the visitors, especially students to learn about outer space,” he said when discussing the organising of the Sarawak AKM Tour in RTM’s Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme today.

“UNIMAS will be invited to give a talk on the first day of the programme on Aug 5, mainly on the programmes that they can take to a  global level and on their efforts to popularise UNIMAS.

“Overall, there will be 28 booths and six mobile counters to complement the programmes at the main stages, besides the special tents, which among others, will promote new innovations in road construction,” he said.

Fadillah said buses will also be provided to the people outside Kuching to come and enliven the AKM Tour, which is an important platform for the community to get to know the culture of each race in Malaysia because a deep understanding of it will make them more respectful of each other, and at the same time being able to strengthen unity.
