Sarawak approves RM130 mln for Igan-Sibu road project
KUCHING, June 8 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak government today approved an allocation of RM130 million for the Igan-Sibu road construction project.
The state’s premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this project was expected to be completed within three years.
He said the Igan-Sibu road was expected to shorten the travelling time for residents in the surrounding areas.
“This road will not only benefit people in the Igan area but also in Bawang Assan and Bruit.
“As we foresee the good impact of this road project, we asked the Public Works Department to give us the estimated cost, which is RM130 million. We approved the amount,” he added in his speech today at the adjournment ceremony of the Matu Festival.
