Sains, PPTEL and Sacofa ink MoU to transform Sarawak digitalisation

KUCHING, April 6 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Information System Sdn Bhd (Sains), PP Telecommunication Sdn Bhd (PPTEL) and  Sacofa Sdn Bhd (Sacofa) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  to collaborate towards the fulfillment of Sarawak’ s digital transformation.

The three parties will jointly provide end to end services and solutions, including infrastructure, contents and applications to accelerate the fulfillment of the digital transformation initiatives set forth in the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

The signing of MoU was witnessed by Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Julaihi Narawi; Sains chairman, Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam; Sacofa chairmanTan Sri Abdul Aziz Husain and  PPTel chairman, Abang Abdillah Izzarim Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari.

Sains chief executive officer (CEO), Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng signed on behalf of Sains while Sacofa was represented by its managing director, Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib and PPTel by its CEO, Dr Jonathan Smith.

Meanwhile, Julaihi, in his speech, said the collaboration will effectively provide the complete eco-system required for the digitalsation of Sarawak.

“As a key vehicle for the state to accelerate its digital transformation, we will work together with other service providers, technology providers and local vendors to bring about the state’s digital transformation,”he said.

For the record, Sarawak began its digital transformation journey in 2017, in order for the state to achieve its goal of economic transformation by 2030, and to be on par with the world’s most advanced digital economies.
