Sarawak seeking solutions on water management through conference
KUCHING, May 25 (Bernama) -- Sarawak will host the Fifth Borneo International Water and Wastewater Exhibition and Conference (BIWWEC 2022) at a leading hotel here from Oct 17 to 19 this year.
Sarawak Utility and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the conference would be a good platform for discussing and bringing forth innovations and technologies which could be customised to improve water supply and wastewater systems in the state.
“We hope that some of the solutions from BIWWEC 2022 may even be proposed for the water supply projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan, such as the Sarawak Alternative Water Supply (SAWAS) Programme and many more,” he told a press conference here today.
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will launch the conference, themed “Sustainability and Resilience Through Smart Technology and Innovation”, which is organised by the Malaysia Water Association (MWA) Sarawak branch. It is expected to attract 300 participants and 30 speakers.
“Issues covering topics such as the post-COVID-19 recovery strategy, water supply grid, management of water resources, as well as digital transformation of the (management) system will be discussed during this three-day event,” Julaihi added.
